Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Bengals will likely interview former Raiders HC Jack Del Rio for their defensive coordinator job under new HC Zac Taylor at some point this week.
- Pelissero confirms that the Bengals will hire Brian Callahan as their offensive coordinator and retain Darren Simmons as special teams coordinator.
Dom Capers has also come up as a potential defensive coordinator for Cincinnati.
Del Rio, 55, began his head coaching career with the Jaguars from 2003-2011 and led them to a regular season record of 68-71 (48.9 percent) and franchise to two playoff appearances.
After his time in Jacksonville, the Broncos signed him to become their defensive coordinator from 2012-2014 and helped create one of the strongest defenses in the NFL during that time.
The Raiders brought him in as their head coach in 2015 only to fire him a few weeks and hiring Jon Gruden.
During his three years as the Raiders head coach, Del Rio led them to a record of 25-23 (52.1 percent) and one playoff appearance.
