Dianna Russini of ESPN reports that the Broncos are interested in Patriots’ recently released QB Brian Hoyer.
Hoyer, 33, originally signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State back in 2009. He spent three years in New England before bouncing around with a number of teams including the Steelers, Cardinals, Browns, Texans and Bears.
Hoyer signed a two-year, $12 million contract that included $10 million guaranteed with the 49ers in March of 2017. He was set to make base salaries of $2.95 million and $3.95 million when San Francisco recently released him.
The Patriots signed him to a three-year deal shortly after being cut by San Francisco. He was entering the final year of his contract and set to earn a base salary of $1.5 million this season prior to being cut by New England earlier today.
In 2018, Hoyer was active for five games for the Patriots and recorded one completion on two pass attempts for seven yards.
