Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald mentioned during a recent interview with Mike Jurecki of Fox Sports 910 that he is “absolutely” willing to restructure his contract this offseason.
“If that’s what needs to be done, that’s what needs to be done,” Fitzgerald said.
Fitzgerald, 30, has four years remaining on his eight-year deal worth $128.5 million contract that included $50 million guaranteed.
As things stand right now, Fitzgerald will count $18 million against the Cardinals’ 2014 salary cap. Fitzgerald has an $8 million roster bonus coming his way in 2015 to g along with a staggering $21.25 million cap figure, so it makes plenty of sense to address his contract now if this is something he’s open to.
It’s worth mentioning that Fitzgerald has previously made it known that he has no intention of accepting a pay cut, so any agreement would basically push cap hits into future years.
Arizona is currently projected to have a little over $2 million in cap space this offseason, so there is plenty of incentive from their end to get something worked out in the coming months.

Niner fan. I feel bad for Fitz because he is constantly been a team guy but lets be honest. Arizona is a Carson Palmer injury away from being irrelevant. Love their and Seattle’s defense but Palmer isnt young and Arizona’s oline isnt good. He deserves to have a few legitimate chances to win a championship but my fear is guys like him and Calvin Johnson may never win one like the Barry Sanders or Cris Carters of the world and that sucks because they are definate class acts. I really hope he gets a legit shot to win one even if it is at the expense of my niners. He is just a true pro
I like this. Fitz is a team player that understands the greater good. He will make his money and he will be there throughout his contracts entirety. I am glad he is open to do what needs to be done in order to maintain key parts of last seasons team. Cardinals are very close to being a perennial playoff team. Even in the toughest conference in football. I hope they are able to make it work.
