Veteran P Dustin Colquitt announced his Instagram account on Monday that he’s been released by the Chiefs.
Colquitt, 37, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2005. He’s played his entire 15-year career in Kansas City and was entering the final year of his three-year, $7.5 million contract and set to make a base salary of $1,950,000 for the 2020 season.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Colquitt will free up $2 million of available cap space while creating $650,000 in dead money.
In 2019, Colquitt appeared in all 16 games for the Chiefs and totaled 2,126 yards on 48 attempts (44.3 YPC) to go along with 21 punts downed inside the 20-yard-line.
Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 22 punter receiver out of 30 qualifying players.
