Cowboys DE Randy Gregory On Course To Apply For Reinstatement Into NFL

David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, citing multiple sources, reports that suspended Cowboys DE Randy Gregory is getting the point where his representatives are in the process of taking the necessary steps to apply for reinstatement into the NFL.

According to Moore, Gregory still needs to complete some steps and file the paperwork with the NFL before he can go before commissioner Roger Goodell to petition for his reinstatement. However, Moore’s sourcesย have said Gregory is doing well and adhering to his program.

Bobby Belt also reports that there’s “real momentum” building for Gregory and he’s expected to apply for reinstatement a week or two following next week’s NFL Draft.

Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones at the Combine that they plan to move forward as if Gregory wouldn’t be with the team for the upcoming season, but Moore seems to think they would find a place or him if he’s reinstated by the NFL.

Last we heard regarding Gregory, his attorney, Daniel B. Moskowitz, said that his client has “every intention of getting back on the football field.โ€

โ€œGiven the sensitivity of this matter, confidentiality of the program and Randyโ€™s privacy, I am unable to comment,โ€ Moskowitz, said. โ€œHowever, I will confirm Randy has every intention of getting back on the football field.โ€

Gregory wound up missing the entire 2017 season while serving a suspension for a failed drug test.

Gregory, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Cowboys back in May of last year. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $3.814 million contractย that includesย $1.404 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season.

In 2016, Gregory appeared in two games for the Cowboys and recorded nine tackles and a sack.
