Cowboys Expected To Have Interest In C.J. Spiller If DeMarco Murray Signs Elsewhere

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that the Cowboys will consider signingย free agent RB C.J. Spillerย in the event DeMarco Murray departs in free agency.

Last night,ย Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports reported thatย Spillerย has at least seven teams interested in him heading into the legal tampering period that begins tomorrow.

According to Getlin, this group consists of: theย Jets, Patriots, Dolphins, Cardinals, 49ers, Redskins and Lions.

On Tuesday, the Billsย called and thanked Spillerย for his service in Buffalo and told him that they had acquired LeSean McCoyย inย a trade with the Eagles.

“I hoped that I could return (to Buffalo),” Spiller said NFL Total Access. “Very few guys get to play their whole career at one team, but unfortunately that doesn’t happen in this business and I found out today it doesn’t happen in this business.”

The one team that stands out among the group is the Jets, seeing as there has been a lot of buzz that Spiller could sign with them now that they’veย hired former Bills HC Chan Gailey as their new offensive coordinator.

Spiller, 27, finished out his five-year, $25,672,087 rookie contract with the Billsย thatย includedย $11,854,169 guaranteed and is now in position to be an unrestricted free agent in theย coming weeks.

In 2014, Spiller was limited to appearing in nine games and rushing for 300 yards on 78 carries (3.8 YPC) to go along with 19 receptions for 125 yards receiving and one touchdown.

We have Spiller currently listed as theย No. 36 player in our Top 1ooย Free Agents list.
