Cowboys Restructured DE Michael Bennett’s Deal

According to Tom Pelissero, the Cowboys restructured DE Michael Bennett‘s deal as a part of the trade that brought him in from New England.

The reworked contract eliminated the final year of Bennett’s deal, making him a free agent at the end of this season. It also allows him to make $2 million in base salary and up to $750,000 in incentives

Bennett, 33, began his NFL career with the Buccaneers and spent four years in Tampa Bay before signing on with the Seahawks as a free agent back in 2013. Seattle signed him to a new four-year, $39 million contract before trading him to the Eagles last year.

After a year in Philadelphia, the Eagles traded Bennett to the Patriots this offseason for a 2020 fifth-round pick.

Bennett signed a two-year, $16.75 million deal with the Patriots that included a $4 million signing bonus. He was set to make base salaries of $3 million and $7 million over the next two years.

In 2019, Bennett has appeared in six games for the Patriots and recorded five tackles and 2.5 sacks.
