Cowboys Still Plan On Locking Up QB Tony Romo

Brandon George of theย Dallas Morning Newsย writes that Cowboys’ plans to re-sign QBย Tony Romo to a long-term contract extension “hasn’t changed” with last weekends loss to the Washington Redskins.

We have a great belief of Tony Romo as our quarterback,” said head coach Jason Garrett on Tuesday. “We all know that we want to take the next step, and Tony is going to be a big part of that going forward.

Romo, 32, will enter the final year of contract and is set to makeย $11.5 million next season. Dallas has made in pretty clear that they intend to get a deal finalized this offseason, so I’m sure we’ll hear plenty regarding the topic in the coming weeks.

Romo is getting up their in age and we’re still waiting to see him take the next step as an NFL quarterback. The Cowboys would be wise to construct the deal so that they have an out after two seasons.
