Dolphins Re-Sign OT Sam Young, Waive S Maurice Smith

The Miami Dolphins announced Monday that they’ve re-signed OT Sam Young and waived S Maurice Smith.

Young, 30, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2010. He lasted just one year with Dallas before being claimed off of waivers by the Bills.

The Jaguars later claimed Young off of waivers from the Bills during the 2013 season before bringing him back on a two-year contract. Young signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins back in 2015 before agreeing to a one-year extension towards the end of the 2015 season.

The Dolphins brought Young back on a one-year contract this past March only to cut him loose when they trimmed their roster down to the 53-man limit. He’s been on and off of their roster this season.

In 2017, Young appeared in 10 games for the Dolphins and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 48 offensive tackle out of 81 qualifying players.
