Dolphins Tried To Bring In Tua Tagovailoa For Meeting Before NFL Banned Predraft Visits

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Dolphins rushed to try to get Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa to Miami for a predraft visit before the league halted in-person meetings between prospects and teams.

However, Schefter says that Miami and Tagovailoa were unable to get a visit scheduled with the Dolphins’ doctors in Miami.

According to Schefter, Tagovailoa was actually the first prospect the Dolphins attempted to host for a predraft visit.

The Dolphins’ doctors were able to see Tagovailoa in person at the Scouting Combine, but have not had any time with him since then.

Miami has been linked to Tagovailoa for over a year now and could be a landing spot for him at No. 5 overall.

There are still concerns about his overall durability and his return from a serious hip injury. Although, Tagovailoa has had positive updates throughout the predraft process and many seem to think he has a good shot of this being a one-time issue.

Tagovailoa, 21, is still expected to be a high first-round pick in this year’s draft, despite the serious hip injury he’s been working his way back from.

Dane Brugler has Tagovailoa rated as his No. 6 overall prospect.

Lance Zierlein compares Tagovailoa to former NFL QB Mark Brunell.

For his career, Tagovailoa has completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 7,442 yards, 87 touchdowns and 11 interceptions over the course of three seasons and 32 games. He has also rushed for 340 yards and nine touchdowns.
