The Philadelphia Eagles announced Friday that they’ve hired Brent Celek and Darren Sproles as personnel consultants.
The Eagles also announced that they’ve hired:
- Tom Hunkele – Director of Sports Medicine
- Ted Rath – Director of Sports Performance
- Jeremiah Washburn – Director of Player Personnel/Senior Defensive Assistant
- Connor Barwin – Special Assistant to the General Manager
Sproles announced his retirement from the NFL last month.
Sproles, 36, is a former fourth-round pick of the Chargers back in 2005. He spent five years in San Diego before signing on with the Saints in 2011. New Orleans later traded him to the Eagles for the 2014 season.
Sproles played out the final year of his two-year, $8 million contract before signing a one-year, $1.415 million contract with the Eagles last year. Philadelphia re-signed him to another one-year contract this past July.
He landed on season-ending injured reserve last month due to a torn right hip flexor muscle.
In 2019, Sproles appeared in six games for the Eagles and rushed for 66 yards on 17 carries (3.9 YPC) to go along with six receptions for 24 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
Celek, 35, is a former fifth-round pick of the Eagles back in 2007. He was in the final year of his four-year, $18 million contract that included $6 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $4 million for the 2018 season when the Eagles released him in 2018.
Celek later announced his retirement before the 2018 season.
In 2017, Celek appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and caught 13 passes for 130 yards receiving and one touchdown.
