Eagles Have Opened Contract Talks With CB Patrick Robinson

According to Matt Lombardo of NJ.com, the Eagles have opened contract talks with free agent CB Patrick Robinson regarding a long-term extension.

Lombardo adds that while contract talks between the two parties are ongoing, other teams could get involved as we draw closer to the start of free agency on March 14.

The Eagles are in a tough cap situation right now, so it could be tough for them to afford a market-value contract for someone like Robinson, depending on the level of interest in him this offseason.

Robinson, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Saints back in 2010. He spent five years in New Orleans before signing a three-year, $14 million contract with the Colts that included $6 million guaranteed.

The Colts elected to come him loose last March and he eventually signed aย one-year contract with the Eagles.

In 2017, Robinson appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and recorded 47 tackles, one sack, four interceptions and 18 pass defenses.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 4 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 ย โ€“ 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
