Eagles veteran RB Darren Sproles tells Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer that he’s “leaning towards” returning for the 2018 season, but has yet to officially make up his mind.
โIโm going to wait until the offseason and see how I feel,โ Sproles said.ย โI donโt have to play next year, but Iโm leaning towards coming back. I canโt end like this.โ
Sproles, unfortunately, sufferedย a torn ACL and a broken arm a few weeks into the regular season and was later placed on injured reserve.
There has been a lot of talk about Sproles calling it a career the past few years, but it sounds there’s at least a chance we could see back in the NFL next year.
Sproles, 34, is a former fourth-round pick of the Chargers back in 2005. He spent five years in San Diego before signing on with the Saints in 2011. New Orleans later traded him to the Eagles for the 2014 season.
Sproles is in the final year of his two-year, $8 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $4 million for the 2017 season. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent in 2018.
In 2017, Sproles had appeared in three games and rushed for 61 yards on 15 carries (4.1 YPC) to go along with seven receptions for 73 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
