Falcons Release OLB O’Brien Schofield

The Atlanta Falcons announced Tuesday evening that they’ve released OLB O’Brien SchofieldĀ to make room for newly signed LB A.J. Hawk.

Schofield, 29, is a former fourth-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2010. He spent three years in Arizona before signing on with the Seahawks in 2013.Ā Schofield later followedĀ Dan Quinn to Atlanta and signed a one-year contract with the Falcons last year.

Atlanta decided to re-sign Schofield two weeks ago and waivedĀ RB Terron WardĀ in a correspondingĀ roster move.

In 2015, Schofield appeared in all 16 games for the Falcons and recorded 29 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble.Ā Pro Football FocusĀ rated him as the No. 71Ā edge rusherĀ out of 110 qualifying players.
