Former Packers S Josh Jones officially passed through waivers unclaimed on Monday and is now a free agent, according to Field Yates.
Jones had previously requested to be traded before being waived on Sunday with a non-football illness designation.
Jones, 24, was a second-round pick by the Packers out of North Carolina State in 2017. He’s entering the third year of a four-year, $4.2 million deal and is slated to make base salaries of $849,856 and $1,042,284 the next two seasons.
In 2018, Jones appeared in 13 games for the Packers, recording 55 total tackles, one sack, no interceptions and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 70 safety out of 93 qualifying players.
