Giants Aren’t Interested Dez Bryant Right Now

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media mentioned Friday that the Giants are not interested in signing free agent WR Dez Bryant.

“As far as theย Giantsย go,ย my understanding is they are not at this point a team vying for his services,” Rapoport said, via NFL.com.

  • On Thursday,ย Giants GM Dave Gettleman was asked about Bryant and said: โ€œWeโ€™re interested in everybody.โ€ (NFLTR)
  • Bryant recently posted video to his Instagram accountย of him working out with Giants receiverย Odell Beckhamย Jr.

Many assumed that with the release of Brandon Marshall on Thursday, the Giants could look to bring Bryant in to play opposite of Beckham.ย However, it looks like he may have to wait and see how his market develops in the coming weeks.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Bryant to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Bryant, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2010. He was in the third year of his five-year, $70 million contract that included $45 million guaranteed and was set to make base salaries of $12.5 million over the final two years of the agreement when Dallas released him in a move that freed upย $8.5 million of available cap space.

In 2017, Bryant has appeared in 15 games for the Cowboys and has caught 66 passes for 814 yards receiving and six touchdowns.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 45 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
