Matt Lombardo reports that the Giants and Cardinals remain in talks regarding a potential Josh Rosen trade.
Last we heard, Josina Anderson said that the Cardinals have not received the kind of compensation they would prefer in a trade for Rosen and they feel like it should be at least a second-round pick.
A team source tells Anderson that Cardinals GM Steve Keim is still trying to come to grips with the fact that they’ve already paid Rosen a $10 million signing bonus as part of his rookie contract.
According to Anderson, Keim has “active ears” and is “ready to listen” and possibly leverage a desperate team.
Anderson spoke to one team source who believes Rosen and Kyler Murray could not co-exist on the same roster because it’s setting up for potential issues down the road. A separate source believes the Cardinals should at least consider keeping both, given that they Brett Hundley as their backup right now.
Adam Schefter mentioned earlier in the day that the Cardinals have spoken with just two teams regarding Rosen, but they don’t have a trade in place.
“They do not have a trade. They do not have anything close to a trade,” Schefter said, via NBC Boston. “The only two teams that they’ve spoken to over the last few weeks, the last month, have been the Miami Dolphins and the New York Giants.
Rosen, 22, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2018. He signed a four-year, $17,664,284 contract that includes an $10,926,792 signing bonus.
The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Cardinals to pick up in 2021.
In 2018, Rosen appeared in 14 games for the Cardinals and completed 55.2 percent of his passes for 2,278 yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
We’ll have more regarding Rosen as the news is available.
