Dan Graziano of ESPN writes thatย recently released S Stevie Brown returning the Giants is something worth keeping an eye on the coming days.
The Texans decision to release Brown was because heย wasn’t likely to make their 53-man roster, and he wanted to pursue otherย opportunities, according to Graziano.
Graziano points out that Brown didn’t want to leave the Giants when he signed a one-year contract with the Texans back in April, and their current safety issues leave them in a position to offer him a decent amount of playing time.
In fact,ย ESPN’s Anita Marks reported thatย Brown told her he was hoping to return to the Giants.
Conor Orr of NFL.com mentioned shortly after his release that Brown being availableย could be a “gift dropping right into Giants’ lap,” as long he’s healthy.
Brown, 28, could also findย ย interest from other teams in need of safety help such asย the Bears and Dolphins.
In 2014, Brown appeared in all 16 games for the Giants last season and recorded 38 tackles, one sack, and a pass defense.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 47ย safety out of 87 qualifying players.
We’ll have more regarding Brown and options as the news is available.
