Giants Re-Sign LB Deontae Skinner To Practice Squad, Cut QB Logan Thomas

The New York Giants are re-signing LB Deontae Skinner to their practice squad on Tuesday and releasing QB Logan Thomas from the unit, according to Dan Duggan.

The Giants’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. WR Darius Powe
  2. DE Stansly Maponga
  3. DE Ishaq Williams
  4. CB Donte Deayon (injured)
  5. OT Laurence Gibson
  6. G Jon Halapio
  7. LB Eric Pinkins
  8. DB Michael Hunter
  9. RB George Winn
  10. WR Kevin Norwood
  11. LB Deontae Skinner

Skinner, 25, signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi State. He was on and off of the team’s practice squad and active roster for much of the 2014 season before New England signed him to a future/reserve deal in February of last year.

Unfortunately, the Patriots elected to waive him shortly after the draft. Skinner caught on with the Eagles a month later and returned to the team on a future/reserve contract his past January. However, Skinner was waived during the preseason.

Since then, he’s been on and off of the team’s practice squad.

In 2014, Skinner appeared in seven games for the Patriots and recorded 16 tackles and a sack.

Thomas, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2014. He lasted just over a year in Arizona before he was waived and later claimed by the Dolphins.

Thomas is in the third year his four-year, $2,652,092 rookie contract when the Dolphins waived him back in June and he was later claimed by the Giants. Since then, he’s been on and off of their practice squad.

In 2014, Thomas appeared in two games for the Cardinals, even though they lost Carson Palmer and Stanton for the season. He threw for 81 yards and a touchdown, but completed just a single pass attempt.
