According toย Stephen Holder of the Tampa Tribune, everyone within the Buccaneersย organizationย is sold on Josh Freeman as their starting quarterbackย except for head coach Greg Schiano.
The Buccaneers have mentioned that they would like to bring in some competition at quarterback this offseason, but this idea appears to be driven byย Schiano more than GMย Mark Dominik.
Tampa Bay has inquired about free agent options such asย Matt Cassel,ย Chase Daniel and evenย Carson Palmer, but there’s reportedly beenย “no sense of urgency in those negotiations.”
Holder mentions that the Bucs could end up using one of their middle-round draft picks on a quarterback, but he doubts that whoever they may take will be able to ultimately push Freeman for the starting job.
The Buccaneers recently re-signed Danย Orlovsky, who figures to enter training camp as the team’s backup.
