According to Ian Rapoport, Titans OLB Jadeveon Clowney had season-ending knee surgery this past Wednesday.
The procedure was to repair Clowney’s left meniscus and he’s expected to be fully recovered in March, when he will be a free agent once again.
Rapoport adds this surgery was on his left knee, not his right knee where he had previously undergone microfracture surgery earlier in his career.
However, it remains a big blow to the Titans and Clowney. The team paid $13 million and got no sacks from Clowney, while he’ll face even more questions as he enters the free-agent market for the second time in as many years.
Clowney was already placed on injured reserve earlier this season.
Clowney, 27, is a former No. 1 overall pick of the Texans back in 2014. He was in the final year of his four-year, $22.272 million contract when the Texans picked up his fifth-year option which paid him $12.306 million for the 2018 season.
Houston franchised Clowney last year before trading him to the Seahawks at the start of the regular season. It took until September for him to a sign one-year deal worth up to $15 million with the Titans.
Clowney will once again be a free agent in 2021.
In 2020, Clowney has appeared in eight games for the Titans and recorded 19 tackles, no sacks, a forced fumble and four passes defended.
