Jaguars Claim WR Jaelen Strong Off Waivers, Place DT Michael Bennett On IR

The Jacksonville Jaguars have claimed WR Jaelen Strong off of waivers from the Texans on Tuesday, according to Adam Schefter.

The Texans somewhat surprisingly elected to Strong loose on Monday and reports later said that the move was football-related and had nothing to do with his one-game suspension for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.

Strong, 23, was taken in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft by the Texans. He’s in the third year of his four-year, $3.281 million rookie contract that included $820,338 guaranteed.

Strong stands to make base salaries of $615,000 (2017), and $705,000 (2018) over the remainder of the contract.

In 2016, Strong appeared in eight games for the Texans and recorded 14 receptions for 131 yards receiving.
