Jaguars Sign TE Scott Orndoff, Waive/Injured TE Zach Conque

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Wednesday that they’ve signed TE Scott Orndoff and waived TE Zach Conque with an injury designation.

Should Conque clear waivers tomorrow, he would revert to the Jaguars’ injured serve list.

Conque, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Stephen F. Austin last year. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Texans cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

Conque later signed on to the Jets’ practice squad before he was released later on the season.

During his college career between Texans-San Antonio and Stephen F. Austin, Conque played quarterback and threw for 6,867 yards while completing 57.3 percent of his passes to go along with 46 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. he also rushed for 1,605 yards and 34 touchdowns over the course of 36 games.

Orndoff, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh back in May of last year. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the agreement when the Steelers waived him from injured reserve.

Orndoff had a brief stint with the Lions before signing on to the Bengals’ practice squad. He returned to Cincinnati on a futures contract this past January, but he was waived a few weeks after this year’s draft.

During his four-year college career at Pittsburgh, Orndoff recorded 58 receptions for 897 yards receiving (15.5 YPC) and 13 touchdowns.
