Jets Place QB Bryce Petty On Injured Reserve With Torn Labrum, Claim OLB Corey Lemonier

The Jets announced Monday that they have placed QB Bryce Petty on injured reserve and claimed OLB Corey Lemonier off waivers from the Lions.

It’s possible that the Jets could go back to Ryan Fitzpatrick as their quarterback for the final game of the season and have rookie Christian Hackenberg active for the first time.

Petty, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Jets back in May of last year. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $2,833,696 contract and stands to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Petty appeared in six games and completed 56.4 percent of his passes for 809 yards, three touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Lemonier, 24, is a former third-round pick of the 49ers back in 2013. The 49ers elected to waive him coming out of the preseason and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Browns.

Lemonier is in the final year of his four-year, $2.714 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $685,000 for the 2016 season before testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent next year.

The Browns elected to cut Lemonier loose a few weeks ago and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Lions. However, Detroit cut him loose a few days ago.

In 2016, Lemonier appeared in eight games for the Browns and recorded nine tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, a recovery and a pass defense.
