According to Ed Werder, people inside the Cowboys’ organization have begun to wonder if Jason Garrett is going to have a role with the team in 2020 as head coach or in a different capacity, given how long the process has dragged out after the season.
Dallas and Garrett have already had a series of meetings since the season ended, even though the consensus belief has been that the Cowboys would be moving on from Garrett. The two sides are expected to meet again Thursday.
Josina Anderson of ESPN also reports that “multiple scenarios have been discussed” regarding Garrett’s status with the organization.
Garrett’s contract with the Cowboys is set to expire.
Garrett, 53, began his NFL coaching career with the Dolphins back in 2005 as their quarterbacks coach. After two years in Miami, the Cowboys hired him as their offensive coordinator and he eventually worked his way up to head coach.
Over the course of his 10 years in charge of the Cowboys, Garrett has led the team to a record of 85-67 (55.3 percent), which includes three playoff appearances.
Weโll have more regarding Garrett and the Cowboys as the news is available.
