NFC North Notes: Bears, Lions, Packers

Bears

Bears RBs coach Charles London mentioned that rookie RB David Montgomery has โ€œpretty rare contact balance.โ€

โ€œHe definitely possesses that,โ€ London said, via the Athletic. โ€œItโ€™s important from the running back position because every play is not going to be clean and every hole is not going to be clean. Sometimes you just got to create that on your own. He did quite a bit of that at Iowa State. That was something that we noticed. And that is something you really canโ€™t coach. You either kind of got it or you donโ€™t and he does. Itโ€™s something we quickly noticed about him.โ€

Lions

Chris Burke of The Athletic takes a look at 14 players who could be on the roster bubble this summer that are worth watching for the Lions if they’re cut including:

  1. Bills EDGE Eli Harold
  2. Browns DT Carl Davis
  3. Buccaneers TE/FB Donnie Ernsberger
  4. Cardinals CB Brandon Williams
  5. Chiefs DT Justin Hamilton
  6. Cowboys EDGE Taco Charlton
  7. Giants S Kamrin Moore
  8. Jaguars RB Thomas Rawls
  9. Panthers WR Terry Godwin
  10. Patriots WR Dontrelle Inman
  11. Redskins CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
  12. Seahawks DT Al Woods
  13. Texas TE Darren Fells
  14. Vikings DT Shamar Stephen

Packers

Cowboys and former Packers WR Randall Cobb said he was disappointed with how his career in Green Bay ended.

โ€œI mean, itโ€™s disappointing,โ€ said Cobb, via Jason Wilde of the Wisconsin State Journal. โ€œBecause I think of some of the teams we had, that I was a part of in Green Bay, and to know we didnโ€™t bring home the title with some of those teams is very frustrating.”

Cobb said he never had any conversations with the Packers about a contract extension and is unsure how much his agent spoke with Green Bay.

โ€œI didnโ€™t really have any conversation personally. I donโ€™t know how much conversation there was between my agent and the Packers organization. But I know there was never an offer put on the table โ€” before or after the offer from Dallas and a couple other teams,โ€ Cobb said. โ€œI think it kind of made my decision easier. If the Packers would have made an offer, I would obviously have had to weigh that decision. But Iโ€™m very excited and very happy to be down in Dallas. I think itโ€™s a great situation and I look forward to this season.โ€
