NFC Notes: Bears, Eagles, Panthers

Bears

According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Bears were among 11 teams to visit with UTSA DE/OLB Marcus Davenport since the Combine.

Regarding the visit, Davenport said it was really more personal than anything else.

โ€œWe talked a lot,โ€ Davenport said. โ€œReally it was more personal. They were trying to get to know me as a person because coming from a school that doesnโ€™t have much history, they didnโ€™t come through as much. They werenโ€™t keeping a record of me all the years.โ€

Chicago has come up as a team who could possibly trade back in round one, so there’s at least a chance Davenport could be a consideration for them on Thursday.

Eagles

  • Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com offers up 11 potential trades for the Eagles that would net them some mid-round picks to work with later this week.
  • Some of Shorr-Parks hypothetical trades are just draft picks swaps while others including players such as QB Nick Foles, LB Mychal Kendricks and CB Ronald Darby.
  • Shorr-Parksย believes UTSA DE Marcus Davenport or Boston College DE Harold Landry would be ideal targets for the Eagles in round one.
  • Incarnate Word P Joseph Zema had a private workout with the Eagles on Wednesday. (Aaron Wilson)

Panthers

the son of Panthers owner Jerry Richardsonโ€™s son, Mark, believes South Carolina businessman Ben Navarro is the best candidate to take over as the franchise’s owner.

โ€œIโ€™m sure there are multiple people that could be the right next owner. I personally know Ben and I know what he stands for,โ€ Richardson said, via Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer. โ€œI know where his heart and his head is, and what his commitments are. And I canโ€™t imagine a better person being the next owner than him.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m a fan of his and Iโ€™m a fan of what he stands for and how he does things. Heโ€™s committed to the right things for the right reasons,โ€ Richardson said.ย โ€œI think heโ€™d be a wonderful owner.โ€
