NFC Notes: Giants, Lions, Panthers, & Vikings

Giants

Dan Graziano mentions that he’s spoken to sources within the Giants about a potential contract extension for CB Price Amukamara and they aren’t opposed to the idea.

However, they didn’t want to do anything this year because they want to see Amukamara healthy for a full season, and they’re comfortable with his fifth-year option salary of $6.898 million.

Lions

  • According to Michael Rothstein, the Lions are hoping for “big things” out of former first-round TE Eric Ebron this season, and he could emerge as theie No. 3 target.
  • Rothstein seems to think WR Ryan Broyles has a shot to secure a spot on the 53-man roster, but it will obvious come down to his health.

Panthers

  • David Newton writes that while Ron Rivera is a good coach and deserved the three-year extension the Panthers gave him in 2014, they shouldn’t rush to tack on more years.
  • In regards to who could be the biggest surprise release from the Panthers, Newton mentions WR Jerricho Cotchery and G Amini Silatolu.

Vikings

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson mentioned that he’s hoping to rush for 2,500 yards in 2015.

“I always keep the mark at twenty-five, so if I get close to that, that’s not bad,” Peterson said, via Vikings.com.

Peterson added that he’s just happy to back in the mix after sitting out nearly the entire 2014 season.

“I’m excited to get back into the mix, to be the extra piece in coach Turner’s offense, and to see what we can do. We’ve got a couple more pieces offensively that I think can really push us over the hump, and I think it’s really going to be an exciting year for us,” Peterson said.
