NFL Notes: Eagles, Jaguars, & Texans

Eagles

  • Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice doesn’t think the Eagles should use a 2017 draft pick on any of the six eligible players in this year’s Supplemental Draft pool.
  • Shouldย Calgaryย WR Rashaun Simonise go undrafted, Kempski believes he would be worth taking a look at during training camp.

Jaguars

Jaguars DC Todd Wash had some positive things to say about undrafted rookie Sย Jarrod Wilson.

โ€œHeโ€™s very sharp,โ€ Wash said, via the Florida Times-Union. โ€œHe came in, he learned the package really well and he put himself in position to make a lot of plays in the middle of the field. Itโ€™s good to see.

โ€œWeโ€™re excited about his progress so far,โ€ Wash said.

  • Ryan O’Halloran writes that one scenario in which Wilson could make the 53-man roster is if the Jaguars opt to keep only three cornerbacks during Aaron Colvin’s four-game suspension to go along with five safeties.
  • This would meanย the Jaguars would keep CBs Jalen Ramsey, Davon House and Prince Amukamara to go along with safeties Tashaun Gipson, Johnathan Cyprien, James Sample, Peyton Thompson and Wilson.

Texans

Texans linebackers coach Mike Vrabel says that former No. 1 overall pickย Jadeveon Clowney is determined to stay on the field thisย year after dealing with a number of injuries the past two seasons.

“He’s determined,” Vrabel said of Clowney, via the Houston Chronicle. “That takes a lot of work. It’s a physical league. It’s a tough grind. He’s been out there like all of our guys. When you’re out here, you get better. When you’re in the meetings and you’re engaged, you get better.

“It’s important for every single guy.ย  He needs to be out on the field and practicing. Te only way you get better is by being out there and the only way you get smarter and more instinctive is by being in the meeting rooms and being engaged.
