Raiders Placed CB Tevin Mitchel On IR After Clearing Waivers

On Wednesday, the Oakland Raiders officially placed CB Tevin Mitchel after he passed through waivers unclaimed.

Mitchel, 26, was originally a sixth-round pick by the Redskins in the 2016 NFL Draft but lasted just a few months with the team after they elected to waive him at the start of the regular season.

Mitchel later caught on with the Colts and spent over a year in Indianapolis before they moved on from him at the start of last season. The Raiders later signed him to their practice squad and brought him back on a futures contract this past January.

The Raiders waived Mitchel with an injury designation on Tuesday.

During his college career, Mitchel appeared in 42 games (29 starts) at Arkansas and finished with 157 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, 18 pass defenses, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown).
