Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Rams LT Andrew Whitworth is worth watching as someone who could retire after the season.
Rapoport says that while Whitworth hasn’t spoken publicly about the possibility, sources close to him and members of the Rams’ organization do not know if he’ll be back for the 2019 season.
As of now, Whitworth has yet to commit to playing next year, according to Rapoport.
Rapoport adds that if the Rams win the Super Bowl, there’s at least a chance Whitworth may call it a career.
Whitworth, 37, is a former second-round pick of the Bengals back in 2006. He spent 11 years in Cincinnati before signing a three-year, $33.75 million contract that included $15 million guaranteed with the Rams in 2017.
Whitworth stands to make a base salary of $10.25 million for the 2019 season.
In 2018, Whitworth appeared in all 16 games for the Rams and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 3 offensive tackle out of 80 qualifying players.
