Rams OLB Clay Matthews Out A Month With Broken Jaw

Rams coach Sean McVay told reporters on Friday that OLB Clay Matthews suffered a broken jaw last night and will be out for a month following surgery, per Lindsey Thiry

McVay explained that Matthews thinks he got kicked in the jaw by Seahawks RB Chris Carson.

Matthews, 33, is a former first-round pick of the Packers back in 2009. He played out the final year of his six-year, $69.73 million contract and made a base salary of $10.4 million for the 2018 season.

The Rams signed Matthews to a two-year contract worth up to $16.75 million during the offseason. 

In 2019, Matthews has appeared in five games for the Rams and recorded 19 tackles, six sacks, two forced fumbles and a pass defense.
