Rams HC Sean McVay told reporters on Monday that with Jared Goff undergoing thumb surgery, they will look into signing QB Blake Bortles off of the Broncos’ practice squad.
The Rams are expected to start John Wolford at quarterback in Week 17.
Bortles is obviously familiar with the Rams’ system after spending last year in Los Angeles.
Bortles, 28, was taken with the No. 3 overall pick by the Jaguars back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $20,654,796 rookie contract when the Jaguars picked up his fifth-year option.
Jacksonville elected to sign Bortles to a three-year, $54 million contract that included $26.5 million guaranteed. However, they cut him loose last year after signing Nick Foles to a contract.
Bortles caught on with the Rams on a one-year, $1 million deal for the 2019 season. He signed on with the Broncos a few months ago and has been on and off of their roster.
In 2019, Bortles appeared in three games for the Rams and completed one of his two passing attempts for three yards.
