NFL teams were reportedly looking to sign Colon-Castillo off of the Ravens’ practice squad, so this move is really to protect him from being poached.
It’s worth mentioning that the NFL changed the rules regarding injured reserve for the 2020 season and players can return from the list after just three games.
Alaka, 24, signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M back in 2019. He wound up making Baltimore’s active roster coming out of the preseason but was placed on injured reserve a few weeks later.
In 2020, Alaka was active for four games, but did not record a statistic.
During his five-year college career, Alaka recorded 260 total tackles, 36.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, one interception, five pass defenses, and five forced fumbles.
