Report: Colts RB Vick Ballard Done For The Season

Mike Wells of has confirmed that RB Ahmad Bradshaw will “get the bulk of the carries” now that Vick Ballard is out for the season.

I’m ready,” Bradshaw said. “That’s just what happens when this happens. I’ve been working hard for this. You never know what can happen. Next man up.”

The Colts will be up against the Dolphins and 49ers in the next two weeks, so it’s not as though Bradshaw will have easy match ups to exploit in the near future.

Colts owner Jim Irsay announced that RB Vick Ballard has been placed on season-ending injured reserve.

  • Mike Chappell reports that Ballard’s suffered a non-contact injury after he knee went out on him as he placed his foot in the ground.
  • Stephen Holder reports that it’s an ACL tear and the Colts will sign Kerwynn Williams off their practice squad.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Indianapolis Colts RB Vick Ballard is out for season after he suffered a knee injury during Thursday’s practice.

  • Ian Rapoport’s sources have informed him that the Ballard suffered a “freak” knee injury.
  • Rapoport adds that Ballard will undergo further testing and “could” be out for the season.

With Ballard’s season over, the Colts will be forced to turn to veteran Ahmad Bradshaw and Donald Brown. They could end up bringing in a veteran running back such as Beanie Wells or Willis McGahee to add some extra depth at the position.
