ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that there’s “increasing chatter” that the 49ers are trying to trade up in the Top 15 for some defensive help.
- Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports adds that Missouri DT Sheldon Richardson is likely their target.
San Francisco’s roster is already one of the deepest in the league, so it would make plenty of sense for them to look to turn some of their 13 draft picks into either higher selections or 2014 picks.
Richardson is my favorite player in this year’s draft class and he could be a great fit for the 49ers’ defensive front. Recent reports mentioned that they could target an eventual replacement for Justin Smith and there’s no question that Richardson would be a five-technique prospect for them.
