The New Orleans Saints elected re-sign veteran TE Alex Smith on Wednesday, despite cutting him loose just a few days ago.
- The Saints also signed DT David Hunter to a contract and placed TE Kevin Brock on season-ending injured reserve.
Smith, 29, is a former third-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2005. He wound up playing out his rookie contract with the team before signing on with the Eagles. Since then Smith has played for the Browns and the Bengals.
The Saints cut him loose to make room for TE Michael Egnew earlier in the week.
In 2014, Smith appeared in just two games for the Bengals, but didn’t record a single statistic.
