Saints Re-Signing OL Michael Ola, Waive Rookie RB Boston Scott

According to Mike Triplett, the Saints are re-signing veteran OL Michael Ola to a contract on Wednesday.

  • Nick Underhill reports that the Saints have waived rookie RB Boston Scott and will sign him to their practice squad if he clears waivers on Thursday.

Ola, 30, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Hampton back in 2014. He lasted just a few months in Miami before catching on with the Bears.

After stints with the Chargers, Lions, Seahawks and Giants, Ola was signed to the Bills’ active roster during the 2016 season and he was on and off of their roster leading up to the 2017 season.

Buffalo elected to waive him injured reserve with a settlement coming out of the preseason last year and he eventually signed on with the Chargers and finished out the year in Los Angeles.

Ola joined the Saints back in May but was released coming out of the preseason.

In 2017, Ola appeared in two games for the Chargers.

Scott, 23, was selected in the sixth round of this year’s NFL draft by the Saints. He signed a three-year, $1.71 million contract with New Orleans and stands to make a base salary of $485,000 for the 2018 season.
