Seahawks Signing QB Jake Heaps To Practice Squad

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Seahawks are signing QB Jake Heaps to their practice squad on Tuesday.

Others had indicated that adding Heaps to their practice squad while Russell Wilson is dealing with an ankle injury was a distinct possibility for the Seahawks, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

The Seahawks will, however, need to make a move to free up a roster spot for Heaps.

Seattle’s practice squad now consists of:

  1. CB Tye Smith
  2. WR Kenny Lawler
  3. LB Kache Palacio
  4. OL Will Pericak
  5. WR Rodney Smith
  6. WR Kasen Williams
  7. WR Marcus Lucas
  8. LB Jordan Tripp
  9. DT Justin Hamilton
  10. T Takoby Cofield

Heaps, 24, originally signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Miami in May of last year. However, he was placed on waivers as they were coming out of the preseason.

The Seahawks signed him to a contract shortly after this year’s NFL draft, but cut him loose a few weeks ago.

Heaps has yet to appear in an NFL game.
