On Monday, Steelers HC Mike Tomlin announced that they will not renew the contract of RBs coach James Saxon.
Here’s the statement from Tomlin regarding the move:
“I have made the decision to not renew the contract for running backs coach James Saxon. We would like to thank James for his efforts over the past five years, and we wish him the best in his future coaching endeavors.”
Saxon, 52, played six years in the NFL for the Chiefs, Dolphins and Eagles. He got into coaching in 1997 as the RBs coach at Rutgers.
Saxon took his first NFL coaching job in 2000 as the Bills RBs coach and worked for the Chiefs, Dolphins and Vikings before he was hired by the Steelers in 2014.
