Albert Breer of NFL Media reports that the Titans will host quarterback prospectsย Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston for visits at some point in the near future.
- According to Breer, no dates have been scheduled up to this point.
This news shouldn’t come as a major surprise, seeing as NFL teams will end up hosting a number of players for visits in the coming weeks.
It’s still hard to get a read on what the Titans plan to do with their No. 2 overall pick and whether they would consider taking one of the two quarterbacks. However, even if they plan to move forward with Zach Mettenberger as their quarterback of the future, it would make sense for them to do as much work on Winston and Mariota as they can in order to determine the value of their No. 2 pick should trade options be available to them.
Winston finished the 2014 regular season throwing for 3,559 yards while completing 65.4 percent of his passes to go along with 24 touchdowns and 17 interceptions over the course of 12 games. He also added three rushing touchdowns.
During his three years at Oregon, Mariota threw for 10,796 yards while completing 66.8 percent of his passes to go along with 105 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions.
