Todd Gurley Interested In Playing For Falcons & Dolphins

According to Josina Anderson, the Dolphins and Falcons are among Todd Gurley‘s most desirable destinations.

However, Miami is unlikely to be an option for Gurley considering that they signed RB Jordan Howard to a decent contract.

Jeff Schultz reported earlier that the Falcons have interest in Gurley but were unlikely to trade for him to cap issues. Atlanta could use a new running back after releasing Devonta Freeman last week and Gurley played at the University of Georgia.

The Rams managed Gurley’s workload quite a bit last year due to knee issues, so there could be some concerns about his knee. Although, he’s one of the best players available shouldn’t have trouble finding a new team.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Gurley to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2021 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Gurley, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Rams back in 2015. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $13.823 million contract and stood to make a base salary of $2.31 million for the 2018 season when the Rams picked up his fifth-year option.

Gurley later agreed to a new four-year extension worth $60 million and includes $45 million guaranteed with the Rams a few months later.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Gurley will come with an additional $2.9 million cap hit of available cap space while creating $20.15 million in dead money.

In 2019, Gurley appeared in 15 games for the Rams and rushed for 857 yards on 223 carries (3.8 YPC) to go along with 31 receptions for 207 yards receiving and 14 total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 36 running back out of 58 qualifying players.

Weโ€™ll have more regarding Gurley as the news is available.
