UCLA QB Josh Rosen said recently that he would rather drop a bit in the draft and go to the right team than get drafted higher by the wrong team.
โIโd rather be a lower pick at the right team than a higher at the wrong team,โ Rosen said, per Josh Weinfuss.
This comes just a few days afterย Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Rosen would prefer to play for the Giants over the Browns and would be hesitant to leave school early if he knew Cleveland was going to take him with the No. 1 overall pick.
Schefter says that this isn’t the first time a player has expressed concern about ending up with the Browns. However, new GM John Dorsey isn’t going to be dissuaded from taking the player he believes is best for the franchise.
Sources tell Schefter that Rosen has expressed concern about winding up in Cleveland and would rather end up with a more stable franchise, such as the Giants.
As of now, the plan for Rosen is for him to skip the Cactus Bowl and then have a “serious conversation” before making a final decision about whether to turn pro.
Rosen is widely considered to be one of the top quarterbacks and top overall players in next year’s draft class, with some rating him higher than USC QB Sam Darnold.
During his college career at UCLA, Rosen threw for 9,301 yards while completing 60.8 percent of his passes to go along with 59 touchdowns and 26 interceptions over the course of 30 games.
