Rams veteran G Rodger Saffold told reporters on Tuesday that he wanted to return to Los Angeles but he’s looking for a “fair” deal.
“I donโt think that itโs any surprise to people to know that I want to be back,” Saffold said, per Lindsey Thiry. “At the end of the day, though, I need to make sure that itโs something fair for me… something I can use and feel that I was treated fair.”
Lindsey Thiry reported back in December that the Rams and Saffold have mutual interest in him returning to Los Angeles next year.
Saffold is in line to be one of the top offensive linemen available in next year’s free agent and should be able to command a decent salary on the open market.
Saffold, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Rams back in 2010. He played out his rookie contract with the Rams before agreeing to a five-year, $42.5 million contract with the Raiders back in 2014.
However, the Raiders failed Saffold on a physical and returned to the Rams on five-year, $31.347 million contract that included $19.5 million guaranteed.
Saffold will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2018, Saffold appeared in all 16 games for the Rams and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 9 guard out of 81 qualifying players.
We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
