Broncos Picking Up LB Brandon Marshall’s Option

According to Troy Renck of ABC 7 in Denver, the Broncos are planning to pick up LB Brandon Marshall‘s 2018 option.

Denver has until Sunday to decide on Marshall’s option, which would fully guarantee his $5 million base salary for the 2018 season.

Marshall, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2012. However, he lasted just over a year in Jacksonville before he was waived at the start of the 2013 season and later signed to the Broncos practice squad.

Denver brought Marshall back for the 2016 season on a one-year, restricted tender worth $2.553 million before eventually agreeing to a five-year, $34.553 million contract that includes $20 million guaranteed last year.

Marshall stands to make base salaries of $5 million and $6.5 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Marshall appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and recorded 106 tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble, a recovery returned for a touchdown and four pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 53 linebacker out of 87 qualifying players.
