The Cleveland Browns have claimed QB Joe Callahan off of waivers from the Saints on Monday, according to Mike Garafolo.
Callahan, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Wesley College back in May. He was able to make the 53-man roster as the team’s No. 3 quarterback coming out of the preseason.
The Packers elected to cut him loose last week and were hoping to sign him to their practice squad but the Saints wound up claiming him off of waivers. New Orleans also wound up in a roster crunch and cut Callahan loose this past weekend.
During the preseason, Callahan threw for 499 yards while completing 61.4 percent of his passes to go along with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
