Cowboys C Travis Frederick Unlikely To Play This Season

Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones said Monday during an interview with 105.3 The Fan that it’s doubtful C Travis Frederick will return this year, per Jeff Cavanaugh.

Frederick had been holding out hope of returning to the team after being diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome this summer, which is a rare disorder in which your body’s immune system attacks your nerves.

However, it’s probably for the best for the Cowboys and Frederick to take a cautious approach and ensure that he’s back to 100 percent before returning.

Dallas placed Frederick on injured reserve in October.

Frederick, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2013. He’s entering the third year of his eight-year, $66.56 million that included $26.2 million guaranteed.

Frederick stands to make base salaries of $10 million and $6 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Frederick appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 2 center out of 36 qualifying players.
