Cowboys WR Brice Butler: “If I’m Not Starting, I’m Not Going Back”

Cowboys WR Brice Butler said during an appearance on “The Herd” that if he isn’t going to be a starter next year, he won’t be returning to Dallas.

With Dallas, the situation has to be right for me to go back,” Butler said, via the Dallas Morning News. “I have to be a starter. If I’m not starting, I’m not going back.”

Butler also appeared on Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed” and said he plans to see what’s out there in free agency.

“I don’t know,” Butler said when asked if he expects to be back with the Cowboys. “I think the market for me will be a little bit better. So I’m definitely going to play the market. I wouldn’t mind being back in Dallas, but there’s going to have to be some changes made, and I’ll definitely voice that with the team and the organization.

When asked if he wanted to be back in Dallas next season, Butler said: “I would love to be a Cowboy, but some things have to change.

Butler, 27, is a former seventh-round pick of the Raiders back in 2013. He was traded to the Cowboys at the start of the 2015 season for a conditional fifth round pick that eventually became Deandre Washington.

Butler returned to the Cowboys on a one-year, $1.1 million contract last year and is now in position to be an unrestricted free agent in the coming months.

In 2017, Butler appeared in 13 games for the Cowboys and caught 15 passes for 317 yards receiving and three touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding Butler as the news is available.

  1. Well if that is how he feels great. He has the speed and talent to be a starter, but it seems like every year in Dallas he would have a great preseason and then disappear during the regular season. He is going to have to be a lot more consistant to be a starter than he is

    • lol… he has to know he is full of crap. Let him him go. 50-60% completions isn’t proof you should be a starter when T Williams is kicking his ass
