Dolphins Placed Waiver Claim For TE Clive Walford, But Jets Had Higher Priority

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Dolphins were the only other team to place a waiver claim for TE Clive Walford. Unfortunately, the Jets had the higher waiver priority, which is why they were able to claim him on Monday.

There was some buzz that the Dolphins could be a team to watch for Walford the past few days, given that they could use some depth at tight end, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Walford, 26, is a former third-round pick out of Miami by the Raiders in the 2015 NFL Draft. He is in the final year of his four-year, $3.345 million rookie contract and set to earn a base salary of $822,800 for the 2018 season.

The Raiders elected to place Walford on waivers last week.

In 2017, Walford appeared in 13 games for the Raiders and recorded nine receptions for 80 yards receiving and no touchdown.
