Adam Schefter of ESPN confirms that TE Dustin Keller has torn his ACL, MCL, PCL and dislocated his knee. Keller took a gamble on himself by signing a one-year deal, in hopes of earning a multi-year contract by the end of the season and will now ‘ll have to settle for another one-year deal come next season.
However doctors fear that he might not get a chance as there is also nerve damage, which could leave Keller’s career in jeopardy, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.
Previous reports have indicated that the Dolphins are already in the process of calling around to other available tight ends/
Keller was carted off the field during the Dolphins preseason game against the Texans on Saturday after rookie S D.J. Swearinge dove into Keller’s right knee after making a catch, bending Keller’s knee awkwardly.
Along with Garafolo, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald has also heard through a team source that the injury is “not good”. All signs point to Keller missing the entire season after having been developing a chemistry with QB Ryan Tannehill all preseason. A mix and rotation of Charles Clay, Dion Sims, and Michael Egnew will replace him.
